Technology

At its core, coated product technology allows for the application of ingredients in thin, precisely dosed layers. These layers, otherwise known as films or castings, can be achieved through numerous methods and exist throughout multiple industries. Benefit Coatings offers a wide range of coating methods and is continuously expanding our offerings and expertise.

Delivery Systems

Spray Coated Products Icon

Spray Coated Products

Spray coating allows for thin, even coatings of low-viscosity liquids. This method of coating is best suited for gauze, bandages, and other woven or non-woven fabrics. Benefit Coatings is a leader in manufacturing blood clotting bandages utilizing this technology. Spray coating of solutions is highly versatile; it can be used to rinse products, add ingredients part way through a drying process, achieve multi-layers in dissolving thin films or bandages, or even add highly unstable materials together.

Dissolving Thin Films Icon

Dissolving Thin Films

Dissolving thin films are most often utilized in, but not limited to, oral delivery systems. Thin films can be formulated using polymers, gums, and other molecules, either in a water-based or non-aqueous blend. These thin films can either dissolve, disintegrate, or not dissolve at all depending on finished product needs. Benefit Coatings has expertise developing and manufacturing thin films with high active loading, taste masking of unpleasant active ingredients, multi-layered constructions, unstable molecules, and much more.

Transdermal Patches

Transdermal Patches

Transdermal patches are a unique delivery system for transfer of active ingredient through the skin. Using adhesives as a carrier, these patches are most often formulated with solvent-based blends. Transdermal patches can contain multi-layered constructions, island placement of active ingredients, rate diffusing membranes, and skin permeability enhancers. Unique transdermal patches have also been developed to include aqueous active ingredients in a water-based polymer blend with a fabric or non-woven backing layer. Benefit Coatings has proficiency in developing and manufacturing many of these categories of transdermal delivery system.
